Organisation Description
We are Merthyr Tydfil College, a Further Education college located in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. Situated on the edge of the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park and within easy reach of Cardiff, we provide high-quality vocational and academic education to learners from diverse backgrounds, helping them develop the skills, confidence and experience needed for successful careers and further study.
Within our Sport and Public Services Department, we deliver programmes in Sport, Coaching, Fitness, Health and Wellbeing, Outdoor Education and Uniformed Protective Services. Our courses combine practical learning with academic study, preparing learners for careers in sport development, coaching, health promotion, policing, emergency services, the armed forces and community leadership. We pride ourselves on creating engaging learning experiences that develop employability, resilience, leadership and global citizenship.
We are committed to international collaboration and actively seek partnerships through Erasmus+ and other mobility programmes. We welcome opportunities for staff job shadowing, teaching exchanges, learner mobility projects, curriculum development and the sharing of innovative practice. We are keen to build long-term relationships with organisations that share our commitment to high-quality vocational education, learner development and cultural exchange.
Our location offers a unique environment for exchanges, combining modern educational facilities, a strong community focus, rich Welsh culture and heritage, and outstanding opportunities for outdoor and experiential learning. We can offer visiting partners insight into vocational education in Wales, sport and community engagement initiatives, public services education, outdoor learning opportunities and learner-centred teaching approaches.
We are particularly interested in collaborating with colleges, vocational schools, universities, sports organisations, public service training providers and community organisations involved in sport education, public services, health and wellbeing, outdoor adventure, leadership development, employability and community engagement. Through international partnerships, we aim to broaden horizons, share expertise, develop intercultural understanding and create meaningful learning experiences for both learners and staff.
