Organisation Description

The centre that welcomes us, the IES Peñas Negras, is a public educational centre located in the town of Mora in the Castilian-La Mancha province of Toledo. This establishment is home to more than six hundred students divided into the different educational cycles and grades offered. Thus, its educational offer presents, on the one hand, the ESO and Baccalaureate levels (divided in turn into the branches of Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences) and, on the other hand, the Basic Grade Training Cycles (with two different families of Administrative Services and Manufacturing and Assembly) and the Intermediate Grade Training Cycles in Administrative Management and Electromechanical Maintenance. Likewise, the centre also hosts Youth Guarantee courses. Finally, it is important to point out that our school promotes other projects of very varied ranges, among them, we can mention ‘Recreos Residuos Cero’, which won an official diploma from the Ministry for Ecological Transition recognising favourably our work in waste reduction and in raising awareness of the rest of the members of our educational community.

Our school has several years of experience in the Erasmus+ programme.
It all started more than ten years ago, when four teachers decided to go on a job shadowing trip to England with the main intention of observing and learning about the ‘climb’ methodology, which would later be implemented in their classes. Years later, in 2018, it was decided to resume this initiative by participating as a partner in a consortium with the Ministry of Education of Castilla-La Mancha. Thus, two Vocational Training students ventured to do their training internships in Italy and Portugal, the results of which were so satisfactory that we decided to continue working with the programme. The following year, we presented the project ‘Change your environment’, which received funding. Thus, six students should have done the same kind of mobility as their predecessors in Florence. However, the project came to a complete standstill due to the COVID19 health crisis. In December 2020, it was relaunched and two students did their FCT in Venice. The fear generated by this virus led to a decrease in the number of candidates. Thus, the project was extended and in March 2022, two other students also decided to do their training placements, but this time in Salerno. In 2021, we were awarded the short project ‘Opening the mind, removing barriers’, which was done in two stages. The first was in Italy in 2022.
