The IES Mencey Acaymo is a comprehensive and state secondary high school, located in the rural town of Güímar, in the east of Tenerife in the Canary Islands (Spain).

The academic offer of the school has grown in the past years and it starts with a four-year Compulsory Secondary Education (12-16); within the second and third year, there are some groups following a Learning and Performance Improvement Programme. We also offer two years of Non-Compulsory Secondary Education (Bachillerato: 16-18), as well as some vocational training programmes (18-30). These curriculums are varied and comprehend an adapted Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture (for students with special educational needs) and two syllabuses of Basic Vocational Training (Administration and Management; Carpentry and Furniture). As per the Middle-level Vocational Training Programmes, we offer a pioneer Agro-ecological and Sustainable Farming Programme, as well as a Middle-level Carpentry and Furniture Programmes. The school is also a referent for sports teaching, both for middle and advanced training (Basketball, Rescue and Lifesaving and higher level vocational training in Physical Fitness). We also have two groups of students within a Special Needs Schooling Programme. We are a reference school for students with mobility difficulties. The high school is also known for its museum Don Quijote en el mundo.

The school stands out for its commitment to educational inclusion, supporting students at risk of social exclusion through collaboration with social services and NGOs, as well as students from rural areas by overcoming barriers such as limited transportation. It also supports migrants and cultural minorities through language workshops and intercultural activities. Through personalized tutoring, academic support, coexistence plans, adapted programs, and scholarships, the school promotes equality, development, and student inclusion.

We have developed many different projects in both Secondary Education and Vocational Training Programmes and our aim is promoting internationalization by implementing Erasmus+ projects.
