Organisation Description

The Berufliche Schule des Kreises Nordfriesland in Husum is a public vocational training centre in Husum, Schleswig-Holstein, on the North Sea coast of northern Germany. Around 3,200 students are taught by about 180 teachers, serving the southern part of the district of Nordfriesland.

We offer dual vocational training (apprenticeships) in the following fields:

  • IT and media: IT specialists for application development and for system integration, media designers (print)
  • Electrical and metal trades: electronics technicians, mechatronics technicians, metal workers, plumbing/heating/air-conditioning installers, cutting machine operators, technical product designers
  • Vehicle technology: automotive mechatronics, agricultural and construction machinery, bicycle technology
  • Construction and wood: carpenters, joiners, painters and varnishers, structural draughtspersons
  • Business and administration: office management, retail, wholesale and foreign trade, industrial clerks, warehouse logistics, public administration
  • Hospitality: cooks, hotel and restaurant specialists
  • Design: visual merchandising, tailoring, interior decoration
  • Agriculture and horticulture: farmers, gardeners
  • Social and health professions: home economics, hairdressing, pharmaceutical-commercial assistants

In addition, we offer full-time programmes (e.g. IT assistants, commercial assistants, social pedagogical assistants, nursing assistants), a vocational upper secondary school (Berufliches Gymnasium, Abitur), a Berufsoberschule and technical colleges (Fachschulen) for construction technology, agriculture, painting and curative education.

We are part of an Erasmus+ consortium with the Schleswig-Holstein Institute for Vocational Education (SHIBB) and are looking for partner schools and companies across Europe for student work placements and teacher exchanges.
