  • The Erasmus experience of this centre We've been realising Leonardo and Erasmus+ projects (and other European projects) since 1998. Since 2014, we use Erasmus+ for our European mobilities. We send and receive small groups of students with psychological impairments to several European countries (Finland, Estonia, Austria, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, France, and hopefully soon to the UK again) for work experience in companies or schools and also offer job-shadowing to our staff; staff from other countries is welcome, here, too. We are accredited for the current Erasmus+ period. We are close to the borders of Luxembourg, France, Belgium and the Netherlands as well as to popular tourist destinations (Trier, Bernkastel-Kues, Cologne etc.). We can offer accomodation for smaller groups in one of our dormitories.

Organisation Description

Opportunities right now:

  • We now have quite a number of partners in several countries and are not actively looking for more right now. If you would like to work with us, feel free to contact us, though. Please send an e-mail to our Erasmus+ coordinator, Anne Unfried, at mobility [at] euro-bbw.de.

+++ We NEVER work with service providers. We are looking for other training centres for young people with psychological impairments for mutual exchanges. +++

The European Vocational Training Centre (Europäisches Berufsbildungswerk) Bitburg is an international institution for vocational rehabilitation, according to §35 of the German Code of Social Law IX. Young people who have a mental health issue or chronic disease – which is of a nature or gravity that makes special advancement necessary in order to be able to successfully finish a vocational training – have a legal right to claim a vocational measure in a “Berufsbildungswerk” like the Euro-BBW.
We are located in Bitburg/Germany, close to the borders of France, Luxembourg and Belgium, in the Eifel area. The promoting organization of the Euro-BBW is the German Red Cross Rhineland-Palatinate.

The Euro-BBW offers vocational orientation and training for ca. 250 young adults with (impending) mental disorder and/or physical disability, from Germany and the neighbouring countries like Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Netherlands. We operate in the German dual system of apprenticeships which means that all trainings are recognised by the state.

Since its establishment in 1998, the Euro-BBW has coordinated and taken part in a variety of national and European projects. We also offer foreign language training as part of our vocational school curriculum, we are counselled by a transnational advisory board, and we employ staff from several nations. Our private vocational school enjoys the status of “Europaschule” (a school which offers European learning opportunities).

In 2018 & 2021 we have been awarded the Erasmus+ VET Mobility Charter / Accreditation for our European activities in the framework of Erasmus+ and beyond. We have also received the Erasmus+ Certificate of Excellence.
