Organisation Description
The BBS Osterholz-Scharmbeck are a bundle vocational school in the region Osterholz in Lower Saxony, near Bremen. This means that we offer vocational training in various professions in the commercial, technical, socio-educational, domestic and nursing sectors. At our school we teach apprentices within the dual system of vocational training and education and offer by attending our full-time school forms to acquire all general education qualifications. The school is located in a rural district. Approximately 140 teachers teach about 1,800 pupils. We have 25 full-time programs and train apprentices in 35 occupations. For about 800 apprentices we are the vocational school in the dual system and have very good contacts to our training companies.
About 70 to 80% of all young people in the region attend the BBS, so the student body is as mixed as the population in the region.
In addition to the educational offer, there are other important components of our profile: We are “European School in Lower Saxony”, UNESCO project school, Environmental School in Europe (since 2000) and are a member of the network of vocational schools in the school district Lüneburg” and in the network NeMo, organized by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture.
The mission statement of our school includes internationalization. Responsible for this is the team internationalization, which employs teachers from all school departments.
BBS Osterholz-Scharmbeck has many years of experience with international projects.
