  • The Erasmus experience of this centre Our school has had the privilege of participating actively in the Erasmus+ program, fostering international collaboration and enriching the educational experience for both students and staff. One of our most memorable achievements was hosting Polish students as part of an Erasmus+ exchange. This experience allowed us to share our culture, educational practices, and hospitality while creating meaningful connections that transcended borders. The students and teachers involved gained valuable insights into cultural diversity and strengthened their communication and teamwork skills. In addition, our school was part of an ambitious long-term Erasmus+ project that spanned three years and involved collaboration between five different countries. This project was a remarkable opportunity to exchange innovative teaching methodologies, develop cross-cultural competencies, and address global educational challenges. It empowered students and teachers alike to work on international teams, share knowledge, and co-create solutions to shared challenges. Through these projects, Erasmus+ has significantly contributed to broadening our horizons, reinforcing the importance of cooperation, and preparing our students to thrive in an interconnected world. These initiatives continue to inspire us to embrace new opportunities for growth and collaboration in the future.

Organisation Description

The Mães D’Água School Group is located in Amadora, in the district of Lisbon, Portugal.

This group encompasses education levels ranging from kindergarten to secondary school, serving approximately 930 students from 32 different nationalities, including 15% who belong to the Roma community.

Our Annual Activities Plan is guided by the theme of Citizenship and Sustainability, inspiring students to adopt healthy and sustainable practices, particularly those related to environmental preservation. To support this mission, we maintain pedagogical gardens where students engage in hands-on learning through organic farming practices.

At the secondary level, we offer professional courses in Commercial Technician and Sports Technician, equipping students with practical skills for their future careers.

The school operates in a socioeconomically disadvantaged area of Lisbon, with many families facing economic challenges and low levels of education. Despite these obstacles, our dedicated team of 110 teachers, 41 staff members, 4 student and family support technicians, and 1 psychologist works tirelessly to provide high-quality education and support to our community.

By fostering diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability, the Mães D’Água School Group aims to empower students to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
