Organisation Description
Hotelová škola Mariánské Lázně is a public secondary vocational school in Mariánské Lázně, Czech Republic, dedicated to professional education in hospitality, tourism, and gastronomy. It is one of the oldest and most respected hotel schools in the region, with a long tradition of training specialists for the international hospitality and tourism industry.
History and Heritage
Founded in 1928, the school began as a hospitality institution with instruction originally delivered in German. After World War II, it continued operations in Czech and developed into a modern hotel and tourism education centre. Its significant historical role helped establish it as a leading institution in hotel education in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Mission and Vision
The mission of Hotelová škola Mariánské Lázně is to prepare students for successful careers in the hospitality, tourism, and culinary sectors. The school combines theoretical education with practical training to ensure graduates are well-equipped with professional skills, including customer service, food and beverage operations, and hotel management fundamentals.
Educational Programs
The school offers a range of accredited vocational programs:
- Hotel Management and Tourism – a four-year secondary education with a school-leaving (maturita) qualification.
- Cook (Kuchař) – a three-year vocational program leading to a certified trade qualification.
- Waiter/Service (Číšník/Servírka) – a three-year program leading to a trade certificate.
- Gastronomy – a two-year follow-up program with maturita.
Students in all programs study general subjects (e.g., languages, mathematics, social sciences) alongside professional and practical vocational training, including kitchen, restaurant, and service operations.
Facilities and Practical Training
The school is well equipped with modern facilities to support practical learning, including multiple professional kitchens, restaurants, lounges, and a wine cellar. Students also gain hands-on experience through internships and work placements in local and international hospitality settings.
Cultural and Extracurricular Activities
In addition to academic instruction, Hotelová škola Mariánské Lázně organizes cultural, social, and sport events, as well as excursions and lectures that further enrich student development.
